An unexpectedly hard shot by Timoteo Rebolloso in the 39th minute of play forced Canoa's goalkeeper Xaver Escoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Canoa's Txema Omaña shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 43rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Alex Quijada but with some difficulty.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Timoteo Rebolloso to make the kick off. Oroitz Elzuardi's late challenge caught a Canoa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
