Mero Cascallana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damian Castillejo in the 7th minute of play. Damian Castillejo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mero Cascallana read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. When Victoro Oliva came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Penero fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Victoro Oliva couldn't finish the play. After 14 minutes, Damian Castillejo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mariri FC and the Penero players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Penero booed when Mariri FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Damian Castillejo didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Mariri FC's Dalmacio Zubizarrieta got control of the ball when Victoro Oliva tried to sneak it across the goal line. Victoro Oliva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dalmacio Zubizarrieta having to interfere. Mero Cascallana stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Damian Castillejo's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Victoro Oliva struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Dalmacio Zubizarrieta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Penero. Dalmacio Zubizarrieta was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Victoro Oliva showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 25 minute of play. 29 minutes into the game, Serafino Perlines was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mariri FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Penero the free kick. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Penero's goalkeeper Mero Cascallana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
