When Estebano Senderos came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Guachiva FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Estebano Senderos couldn't finish the play. Romildo Verdeja fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chucho Alborja having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romildo Verdeja got free with Chucho Alborja in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 2-0 became the score in the 21st minute when Romildo Verdeja elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 25th minute Oswaldo Tobalina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esteve Altemiz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Charallave FC booed when Guachiva FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chucho Alborja prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Chucho Alborja took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romildo Verdeja, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Guachiva FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
