After a defensive mix-up in Bloomingdale's zone, Sammy Vickers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ethan Best came out of the goal and Sammy Vickers tried to chip the ball over his head. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dominique Schmitz couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sammy Vickers during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee showed Vaughn Crews the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 45th match minute, Bloomingdale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vaughn Crews to maneuver through the defense. After 48 minutes Bloomingdale's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Brian Stark who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Brian Stark got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ethan Best quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 56th minute, Napoleon Hawthorne got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Sammy Vickers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Sebastian Jorgensen fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored McHenry FC's protests and gave Sebastian Jorgensen a yellow card for diving instead. The referee gave McHenry FC a penalty, 86 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Brian Stark, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Bloomingdale's Ethan Best. 1-2. With a little luck, McHenry FC's Kurtis Herndon got control of the ball when Dominique Schmitz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ethan Best took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sammy Vickers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 98th minute Ty Manning shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kurtis Herndon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
