After a rather tough play, Hardin's Russell Baez got a free kick in the 21st minute. If Kris Wilkinson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. Gustavo Saenz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dave Gifford in the 36th minute of the match. In the 37th match minute, Elmwood Place was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stanley Clay to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th minute, Landon Atkinson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kris Wilkinson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Byron Schaefer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 57 minutes into the match, Hardin's goalkeeper Byron Schaefer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zack Patterson. When Kris Wilkinson fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Elmwood Place's protests and gave Kris Wilkinson a yellow card for diving instead. After 58 played minutes Elmwood Place got a freekick which was hit by Kris Wilkinson. Elmwood Place's Kris Wilkinson got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kris Wilkinson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zack Patterson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Byron Schaefer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Hebert was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 75th minute. Elmwood Place's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Zack Patterson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Elmwood Place's Gustavo Saenz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dave Gifford in the 84th minute of play. Kris Wilkinson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Landon Atkinson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Saenz having to interfere. Gustavo Saenz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dave Gifford went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Many of Elmwood Place's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Elmwood Place may have spent more time on the ball, but Hardin were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
