The audience thought a goal was coming when Darron Abernathy got free with Dan Ruth in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dylan Spaulding fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rufus Correa having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Allen Piper managed to get in a good position for a shot. Glassboro's supporters rose to their feet, but Allen Piper was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dan Ruth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Mint Hill's Dylan Spaulding in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Glassboro's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 32nd minute Allen Piper shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dan Ruth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Allen Piper received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Dan Ruth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 36 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Mint Hill! Maxwell Castillo hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Rufus Correa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Terence Heath in the 46th minute of the match. Allen Piper in the 48thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dan Ruth, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Allen Piper stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Glassboro's goalkeeper Rufus Correa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Stan Cermak hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Dan Ruth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stan Cermak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
