Robin Stanford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andreas MacKenzie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andreas Garrett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Robin Stanford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Robin Stanford managed to avoid a goal in the 52ndth minute, when Willimantic's Andreas MacKenzie fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 59th minute, Andreas MacKenzie made a precise shot to the right of Robin Stanford. Muskegon Heights AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Monte Jewell took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tommy Livingston. Tommy Livingston dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. The supporters of Willimantic booed when Muskegon Heights AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cruz Coker didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Andreas Garrett managed to get in a good position for a shot. Willimantic's supporters rose to their feet, but Andreas Garrett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Robin Stanford breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 69 minutes into the match, Willimantic's Andreas Garrett sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Robin Stanford narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 72 minutes into the match, Muskegon Heights AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Andreas Garrett came free, but Robin Stanford reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
