Atletico Miami's Calvin Diggs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeremiah Wilhelm in the 7th minute of play. If Ronny Oakes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute Ronny Oakes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Calvin Diggs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felipe Ambriz's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Duane Sellers firmly grabbed it by the left post. The supporters of North Chicago booed when Atletico Miami was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joaquin Tolbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Calvin Diggs went to the wrong direction when Damon Gordon was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. If Jeremiah Wilhelm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Duane Sellers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charles Fountain, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Calvin Diggs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Doug Emerson in the 35th minute of the match. If Charles Fountain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Calvin Diggs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeremiah Wilhelm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felipe Ambriz came free with the goalkeeper in the 46th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Duane Sellers could save by the left post. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

North Chicago's Duane Sellers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charles Fountain in the 53rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, North Chicago's Norbert Goodson got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Albert Newman hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind North Chicago's goalkeeper Duane Sellers, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Duane Sellers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Ambriz, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Atletico Miami's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
