Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Hughes Springs's Luke Koenig started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Hughes Springs's Roland Lanier sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sherwood Story narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luke Koenigs short, quick shot in the 5thth minute got Sherwood Story to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 9 minutes of play, Gallipolis AFC's Bronson Parham made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carson Kidd was left in no man's land by his defense there! Carson Kidd didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bronson Parham went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. If Roland Lanier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ed Booth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Sherwood Story tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roland Lanier kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bronson Parham in the 29th minute of play forced Hughes Springs's goalkeeper Carson Kidd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Gallipolis AFC's zone, Luke Koenig stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sherwood Story came out of the goal and Luke Koenig tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ed Booth came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Hughes Springs fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ed Booth couldn't finish the play. Sherwood Story took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luke Koenig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roland Lanier could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Sherwood Story made a huge save. Luke Koenig's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Sherwood Story firmly grabbed it by the left post. Roland Lanier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Sherwood Story tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Hughes Springs booed when Gallipolis AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sheldon Park didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell DeAndre Parr to make the kick off. Sherwood Story made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robbie Payton in the 55th minute of play. Robbie Payton might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sherwood Story. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Robbie Payton ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Hughes Springs getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Roland Lanier hit a great ball. Carson Kidd made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from DeAndre Parr in the 63rd minute of play. Filiberto Sapp kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Ed Booth recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ed Booth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Sherwood Story tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robbie Payton in the 77th minute of play forced Gallipolis AFC's goalkeeper Sherwood Story to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute, Luke Koenig made a precise shot to the right of Sherwood Story. Gallipolis AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. In the 83rd match minute, Hughes Springs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Love to maneuver through the defense. If Bronson Parham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute, Robbie Payton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by DeAndre Parr in the 88th minute of play forced Hughes Springs's goalkeeper Carson Kidd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Monty Wong kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. If Roland Lanier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ed Booth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Hughes Springs manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Gallipolis AFC to win.
