Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Ivan Hester made the kick off and thus started the match. In the 2nd minute, Esteban Hopkins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clint Lynn was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Korey Caudill. When Tracy Wray came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Southern Shops fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tracy Wray couldn't finish the play. Bruce Gates showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Esteban Hopkins in the 12th minute of the match. Bruce Gates showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilbur Sullivan, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Bruce Gates took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Hester, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aldo Sandoval recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bruce Gates showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Hester, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After a rather tough play, Braintree FC's Joseph Baez got a free kick in the 21st minute. Southern Shops's Bruce Gates played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivan Hester in the 24th minute of play. Tracy Wray sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bruce Gates didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ivan Hester went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Tracy Wray blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Clint Lynn having to make a save. After 42 played minutes Braintree FC got a freekick which was hit by Joseph Baez. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tracy Wray was the one to do the kick off. Ernest Lawson hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. 58 minutes into the game, Cary Ham threw the ball into play from the sideline. Southern Shops's Arturo Barber quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tracy Wray in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clint Lynn saved Braintree FC from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aldo Sandoval got free with Bruce Gates in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 63rd match minute, Southern Shops was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zane Olsen to maneuver through the defense. In the 67thth minute of the game Aldo Sandoval who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Southern Shops's Bruce Gates was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bruce Gates made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivan Hester in the 70th minute of play. Southern Shops's Arturo Barber quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Cary Ham, made in the 75th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tracy Wray in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Clint Lynn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 80th minute there was a penalty for Braintree FC. Alec McCoy stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Bruce Gates. 1-2. Tracy Wray recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ernest Lawson charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ernest Lawson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 87 played minutes Braintree FC got a freekick which was hit by Ernest Lawson. When Southern Shops's Tracy Wray in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Braintree FC's goalie prevented a goal. Braintree FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
