Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Brandon Hammond started the match with the kick off. If Clayton Looney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brandon Hammond's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Renato Gibbs read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Walker Benitez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Murphy's supporters rose to their feet, but Walker Benitez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bradley McLain breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Walker Benitez struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Bradley McLain didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Murphy. When Berry Skaggs fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Murphy's protests and gave Berry Skaggs a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Murphy getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Berry Skaggs hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Nephi AFC's Gregory Johns got a free kick in the 15th minute. Renato Gibbs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brandon Hammond, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute, Brandon Hammond left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nephi AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Clayton Looney recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Brandon Hammond fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renato Gibbs having to interfere. Clayton Looney fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bradley McLain having to interfere. Gregory Johns kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. In the 35th minute Walker Benitez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bradley McLain saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kerry Marino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 42nd minute, Walker Benitez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 44 played minutes Nephi AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ron Cassidy. Fabian McCauley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Walker Benitez to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Cesar Cook fired a really elegant long shot, but Renato Gibbs threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Kerry Marino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renato Gibbs having to interfere. In the 55thth minute of the game Brandon Hammond who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Murphy's Renato Gibbs was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Nephi AFC's Brandon Hammond in the 56th minute got a chance for a shot 56th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Murphy's goalie prevented a goal. Walker Benitez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Murphy's goalkeeper Renato Gibbs, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Kerry Marino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renato Gibbs having to interfere. Brandon Hammond sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 68 minutes into the match, Murphy's goal looked a bit too open when Brandon Hammond came free, but Renato Gibbs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Kerry Marino came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Nephi AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kerry Marino couldn't finish the play. After 72 minutes of play, Murphy's Walker Benitez made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bradley McLain was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some careless play in the Nephi AFC defense, Clayton Looney kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bradley McLain. The Nephi AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bradley McLain should have stopped the shot. In the 82nd minute, one of Murphy:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Murphy. The goalkeeper, Renato Gibbs, was totally fooled by Nephi AFC's Ron Cassidy, who 84 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walker Benitez in the 88th minute of play forced Nephi AFC's goalkeeper Bradley McLain to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Murphy's Walker Benitez in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Nephi AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Clayton Looney struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Bradley McLain didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Murphy. After 98 played minutes Nephi AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ron Cassidy. Fabian McCauley walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post.
