Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Cary Shepherd got the match started through his kick off. After a defensive mix-up in De Soto's zone, Ismaël Teissier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sean Tate came out of the goal and Ismaël Teissier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gordon Bauer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lorenzo Chavez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tod Lawler charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tod Lawler the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tod Lawler hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Gordon Bauer came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by De Soto's Lanny Vinson. But to his dismay, Lanny Vinson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Sean Tate showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Melvin Keyes, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Gordon Bauer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tod Lawler in the 17th minute of the match. Denis Dewitt lost his temper 19 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Denis Dewitt hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Eddy Bowman took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 21st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gordon Bauer. Better Than Arsenal's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 23rd minute Tod Lawler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gordon Bauer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th match minute, Better Than Arsenal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Theodore Boyd to maneuver through the defense. After 33 played minutes De Soto got a freekick which was hit by Cary Shepherd. Melvin Keyes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sean Tate having to interfere. Louis Lemon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Sean Tate tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gordon Bauer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cary Shepherd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Melvin Keyes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Louis Lemon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sean Tate having to interfere. After 56 played minutes De Soto got a freekick which was hit by Parker Figueroa. In the 61st minute of the match, Tod Lawler tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gordon Bauer saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 69 minutes into the game, Better Than Arsenal's Melvin Keyes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sean Tate made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. 73 minutes into the match, De Soto's goal looked a bit too open when Melvin Keyes came free, but Sean Tate reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gordon Bauer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cary Shepherd, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Melvin Keyes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Melvin Keyes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guillermo Coria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sean Tate having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Melvin Keyes in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sean Tate prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Better Than Arsenal's Guillermo Coria got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gordon Bauer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lanny Vinson in the 94th minute. In the 96th minute, De Soto's Tod Lawler ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gordon Bauer. Gordon Bauer yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. The De Soto supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing De Soto would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
