Hank Carrier might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Reginald Ashley. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hank Carrier ran back to his position shaking his head. If Stephen Hampton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reginald Ashley made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hank Carrier in the 10th minute. Hank Carrier received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Reginald Ashley came out and tried to block the shot, but Hank Carrier slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 14th minute. In the 17th match minute, Blacksburg FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dominic Blevins to maneuver through the defense. 18 minutes into the match, Blacksburg FC's goal looked a bit too open when Stephen Hampton came free, but Reginald Ashley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Dalton FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tracey Otto came free, but Tyson Denton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stephen Hampton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reginald Ashley having to interfere. Reginald Ashley made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Hank Carrier sent off a good shot on target. If Stephen Hampton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Devin Landis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Tyson Denton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stephen Hampton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reginald Ashley having to interfere. Tyson Denton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Devin Landis, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. In the 47th match minute, Blacksburg FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tracey Otto to maneuver through the defense.
In the 53rd minute Hank Carrier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reginald Ashley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 55 minutes, Devin Landis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Blacksburg FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Devin Landis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dalton FC's Tyson Denton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Dalton FC from getting a goal against them. Dalton FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 57th minute, when Tracey Otto scored to the left of an out of position Tyson Denton, making the score, 1-1. 61 minutes into the match, Dalton FC's Stephen Hampton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Reginald Ashley narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Hank Carrier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Stephen Hampton came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Dalton FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stephen Hampton couldn't finish the play. Dalton FC's Tyson Denton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Devin Landis in the 69th minute of play. When Hank Carrier, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 71 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Reginald Ashley was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Stephen Hampton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wilson Sinclair kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. After 79 played minutes Blacksburg FC got a freekick which was hit by Wesley Marrero. After a defensive mix-up in Blacksburg FC's zone, Stephen Hampton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reginald Ashley came out of the goal and Stephen Hampton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 83 minutes, Stephen Hampton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dalton FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stephen Hampton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tracey Ottos short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Tyson Denton to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Reginald Ashley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stephen Hampton in the 87th minute of play. After some careless play in the Blacksburg FC defense, Stephen Hampton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Reginald Ashley. The Blacksburg FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reginald Ashley should have stopped the shot. Hank Carrier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Reginald Ashley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Reginald Ashley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mervin Law, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. Dalton FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
