The referee ignored Shawnee's protests and gave Wilford Adair a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Shawnee getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Wilford Adair hit a great ball. Shawnee's Lionel McGee played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rusty Aviles in the 11th minute of play. If Rusty Aviles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Enoch Powers hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. If Emery Newby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th match minute, Shawnee was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enoch Powers to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 21 minutes, Phillip Vann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Shawnee's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phillip Vann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 22 played minutes Muscle Shoals FC got a freekick which was hit by Leif Arellano. In the 23rd minute, Ezra Jennings got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lionel McGee showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emery Newby in the 25th minute of the match. In the 25th minute Emery Newby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lionel McGee saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ezra Jennings got free with Wilfred Jernigan in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rusty Aviles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ezra Jennings received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Wilfred Jernigan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ezra Jennings sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 35th match minute, Muscle Shoals FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leif Arellano to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Muscle Shoals FC's zone, Phillip Vann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilfred Jernigan came out of the goal and Phillip Vann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 39 minutes into the game, one of Muscle Shoals FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 40 minutes, Shawnee's Sammy Tomlinson got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Wilfred Jernigan. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rusty Aviles was the one to do the kick off. Emery Newby blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lionel McGee having to make a save. Hans Lay charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hans Lay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Muscle Shoals FC booed when Shawnee was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hans Lay didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilfred Jernigan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ezra Jennings, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emery Newby could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Lionel McGee made a huge save. Shawnee's Lionel McGee proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Shawnee from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ezra Jennings in the 80th minute of play forced Muscle Shoals FC's goalkeeper Wilfred Jernigan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emery Newby succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 82nd playminute. Ezra Jennings fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilfred Jernigan having to interfere. Renaldo Pagan might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lionel McGee. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Renaldo Pagan ran back to his position shaking his head. If A.J. Couch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
