Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Thaddeus Kearns got the match started through his kick off. The audience was convinced that Willy Glover's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Merle Schmitz was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. Merle Schmitz came out of the goal in the 9th minute to try and stop a shot by Siesta Key AFC's Willy Glover. But to his dismay, Willy Glover quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thaddeus Kearns in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Merle Schmitz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Jacob Randle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the game, Siesta Key AFC's Willy Glover nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Merle Schmitz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. The supporters of Siesta Key AFC booed when Avra Valley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andre Freeman didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26th minute, Jeramy Ritter sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Avra Valley's Merle Schmitz didn't even have to move. Merle Schmitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Willy Glover in the 29th minute of the match. Merle Schmitz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Willy Glover in the 30th minute of play. Thaddeus Kearns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Willy Glover in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Merle Schmitz saved Avra Valley from getting behind. Emmanuel Morris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Thaddeus Kearns had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacob Randle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Avra Valley defense, Thaddeus Kearns kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Merle Schmitz. The Avra Valley fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Merle Schmitz should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Willy Glover came free with the goalkeeper in the 57th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Merle Schmitz could save by the left post. Willie Garner came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Avra Valley's Emmanuel Morris. But to his dismay, Emmanuel Morris quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. If Willy Glover had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thaddeus Kearns fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Merle Schmitz having to interfere. In the 80th minute, Jefferson Pitts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 83 minutes into the match, Avra Valley's goalkeeper Merle Schmitz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Willy Glover. In the 84th minute, Hal Ramey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Merle Schmitz was a little too slow when Thaddeus Kearns got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 87th minute. The score was now 1-4. Merle Schmitz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Thaddeus Kearns showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-5 in the 92 minute of play. If Thaddeus Kearns had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
