Alpena's Dirk Green proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Alpena from getting a goal against them. When Rico Wesley came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Alpena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rico Wesley couldn't finish the play. Michael Davison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rusty Carmichael in the 17th minute of the match. 20 minutes into the match, Alpena's goalkeeper Dirk Green had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Heriberto Mayo. A collision led to Alpena getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Joey Looney hit a great ball. Heriberto Mayo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dirk Green having to interfere. After 31 minutes of play, Alpena's Rusty Carmichael made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Michael Davison was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 36th minute, Moses Arredondo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Heriberto Mayo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Last Boys Scouts FC's zone, Rico Wesley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michael Davison came out of the goal and Rico Wesley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Dirk Green took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Moses Arredondo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the match, Alpena's goal looked a bit too open when Moses Arredondo came free, but Dirk Green reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 63 minutes into the game, Rico Wesley cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Michael Davison was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Last Boys Scouts FC's Phillip Arnold got a free kick in the 66th minute. In the 67th minute, Rusty Carmichael ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Michael Davison was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Heriberto Mayo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Last Boys Scouts FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Heriberto Mayo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dirk Green breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Last Boys Scouts FC booed when Alpena was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matthew Cahill didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Heriberto Mayo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Last Boys Scouts FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Heriberto Mayo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dirk Green breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Garth Timmons kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Last Boys Scouts FC's Michael Davison played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rusty Carmichael in the 93rd minute of play. Michael Davison stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rusty Carmichael's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Alpena eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
