An unexpectedly hard shot by Maurice Borden in the 8th minute of play forced Dep Merlo's goalkeeper Andreas Crowell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes had been played when some careless play by Carnegie's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Eric Bauer was slow to take the kick. During this time Dep Merlo's players had a chance to rest. Claude Perkins kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Carnegie's goalkeeper Mark Starnes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Carnegie's zone, Mervin Carver stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mark Starnes came out of the goal and Mervin Carver tried to chip the ball over his head. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Travis Stephenson made a kick off. The supporters of Carnegie booed when Dep Merlo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emery Dahlstrom didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 54th minute, Neil Hillman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 81st minute of the match Brant Lincoln sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Andreas Crowell skillfully saved the ball. 83 minutes into the game, Mervin Carver was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
