The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the game, Damian Preston cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Kip Tobin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 7 minutes, Bart Acuna managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballville FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bart Acuna was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 9 minutes into the match, Montevallo AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Jarrett Paige came free, but Rufus Gunn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kip Tobin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josh Arnold in the 10th minute of play. Jarrett Paige received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Rufus Gunn. If Guy Ruff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Josh Arnold to make the kick off. After 53 played minutes Montevallo AFC got a freekick which was hit by Damian Preston. Dominic Emerson lost his temper 57 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Montevallo AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 56th minute. Penalty! Ballville FC's Bart Acuna got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Ballville FC booed when Montevallo AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Damian Preston didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 69th minute, Jarrett Paige left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ballville FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. After a rather tough play, Montevallo AFC's Damian Preston got a free kick in the 75th minute. Bart Acuna scored 5-1 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rufus Gunn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Montevallo AFC's goalkeeper Rufus Gunn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rufus Gunn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bart Acuna went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 6-1 was the resulting score. Rufus Gunn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Willard Willoughby's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. If Bart Acuna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jarrett Paige fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rufus Gunn having to interfere. Rufus Gunn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jarrett Paige, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. There was no doubt that Ballville FC were the better team. Ballville FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
