The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The Clearfield fans' excitement grew in the 5th match minute when Clearfield's Donny Tucker looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 8thth minute of the game Justin Whitt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Clearfield's Marshall Young was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Clearfield's zone, Justin Whitt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marshall Young came out of the goal and Justin Whitt tried to chip the ball over his head. Coxafc's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clearfield the free kick. After 38 played minutes Coxafc got a freekick which was hit by Rubin Russo. Sammy Ezell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wesley Sherman having to interfere. Truman Mullins's late challenge caught a Coxafc's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Truman Mullins helped the player get up and apologised. It was beautiful to see Coxafc's Corey Campos in action when he in the 47th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Andre Irving made a kick off. The Coxafc fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Coxafc's Andre Irving looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Wesley Sherman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donny Tucker, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Clearfield's Sammy Ezell got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marshall Young showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andre Irving in the 63rd minute of the match. 64 minutes into the game, Clearfield's Sammy Ezell nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wesley Sherman made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. When Justin Whitt came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Coxafc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Justin Whitt couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Justin Whitt put it in 2-3 from a short distance just to the right of Marshall Young. If Justin Whitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andre Irving sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Coxafc's Wesley Sherman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donny Tucker in the 86th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Andre Irving managed to get in a good position for a shot. Coxafc's supporters rose to their feet, but Andre Irving was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marshall Young breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
