The referee ignored Atlanta United FC's protests and gave Yong Anderson a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Atlanta United FC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Yong Anderson hit a great ball. Trinidad Guzman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Owen Hooper struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Del Pennington didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for UNFK. Del Pennington showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Owen Hooper, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlanta United FC's goalkeeper Del Pennington, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hal Harrison kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Del Pennington took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trinidad Guzman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 38 minutes, Owen Hooper managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UNFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Owen Hooper was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Owen Hooper received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Del Pennington tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Owen Hooper in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Del Pennington saved Atlanta United FC from getting behind. In the 43rd match minute, UNFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richie Espinoza to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes into the match, Atlanta United FC's Randolph Hough sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wallace Pickett narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jimmy Bragg kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After having played for 48 minutes, Jayson Billings managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Owen Hooper was the one to do the kick off. Owen Hooper fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Del Pennington having to interfere. The supporters of UNFK booed when Atlanta United FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jason Hollandsworth didn't get a good kick on the ball. Del Pennington made an important save on a dangerous shot by Trinidad Guzman in the 55th minute. In the 58th minute, Trinidad Guzman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Del Pennington was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 65th match minute, UNFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jimmy Bragg to maneuver through the defense. In the 70thth minute of the game Owen Hooper who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlanta United FC's Del Pennington was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Atlanta United FC booed when UNFK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Myles Albert didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 77 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Atlanta United FC! In the 79th minute there was a penalty for UNFK. Federico Reece stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Del Pennington. 0-3. In the 82nd minute, Trinidad Guzman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Del Pennington was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Atlanta United FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Owen Hooper 89 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-5.
