Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Xavier Deal made the kick off which started today's match. Korey Hollandsworth shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Woodward's goalkeeper DeAndre Nicholson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 10th match minute, Elk Plain was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mitchell Carey to maneuver through the defense. DeAndre Nicholson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xavier Deal in the 13th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the game, Elk Plain's Xavier Deal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. DeAndre Nicholson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After having played for 20 minutes, Xavier Deal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Elk Plain's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xavier Deal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Ronny Isaac managed to get in a good position for a shot. Elk Plain's supporters rose to their feet, but Ronny Isaac was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. DeAndre Nicholson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Elk Plain's zone, Gerardo McGrath stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Grady Weathers came out of the goal and Gerardo McGrath tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Xavier Deal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but DeAndre Nicholson was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. Xavier Deal struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. DeAndre Nicholson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Elk Plain. If Conrad Sanderson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronny Isaac in the 34th minute of play forced Woodward's goalkeeper DeAndre Nicholson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Xavier Deal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Len Brown got free with Grady Weathers in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. DeAndre Nicholson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xavier Deal in the 41st minute of play. Xavier Deal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 47th minute Ronny Isaac shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but DeAndre Nicholson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elk Plain's Josh Maddox was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but DeAndre Nicholson in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After the first half Elk Plain were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Conrad Sanderson to make the kick off. In the 57th minute, Joesph Ware hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 60th minute, Alexander Smart hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Elk Plain getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Alexander Smart hit a great ball. After 68 played minutes Woodward got a freekick which was hit by Alfred Rocha. Xavier Deal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. DeAndre Nicholson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Gerardo McGrath had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Len Brown in the 80th minute of play forced Elk Plain's goalkeeper Grady Weathers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Elk Plain's zone, Gerardo McGrath stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Grady Weathers came out of the goal and Gerardo McGrath tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Grady Weathers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Len Brown, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Grady Weathers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Conrad Sanderson in the 87th minute of the match. After having played for 89 minutes, Ronny Isaac managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Elk Plain's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronny Isaac was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 95th minute Joesph Ware shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Grady Weathers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Elk Plain eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
