Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ruben Mims got the match started through his kick off. Johnnie Stoner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Garth Sprague in the 9th minute of play. In the 10th minute, Marco Waddell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Garth Sprague in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Johnnie Stoner saved Radcliffe Football Club from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Shawn Tompkins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cockermouth United's supporters rose to their feet, but Shawn Tompkins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Johnnie Stoner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Johnnie Stoner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Garth Sprague in the 16th minute of the match. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Radcliffe Football Club's goalkeeper Johnnie Stoner, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Vicente Tate fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cockermouth United's protests and gave Vicente Tate a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cockermouth United getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Vicente Tate hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Radcliffe Football Club's Ruben Mims got a free kick in the 24th minute. When Shawn Tompkins came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Cockermouth United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Shawn Tompkins couldn't finish the play. After 27 played minutes Cockermouth United got a freekick which was hit by Graham Alston. If Ralph Engel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruben Mims in the 30th minute of play forced Cockermouth United's goalkeeper Phil Dooley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Johnnie Stoner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garth Sprague, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. After 40 minutes of play, Radcliffe Football Club's Ruben Mims made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Phil Dooley was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ralph Engel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Phil Dooley having to make a save. If Ralph Engel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Ralph Engel got free with Phil Dooley in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Johnnie Stoner had in the 61stth minute some difficulties stopping Charles Glover's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Cockermouth United's Vicente Tate got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ralph Engel came free with the goalkeeper in the 69th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Phil Dooley could save by the left post. Ruben Mims received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Phil Dooley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ruben Mims sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ralph Engel struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Phil Dooley didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Radcliffe Football Club. Johnnie Stoner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garth Sprague, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After having played for 92 minutes, Ralph Engel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Radcliffe Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ralph Engel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ruben Mims had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ralph Engel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 100th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
