The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Brendon Platt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilfredo Chung having to interfere. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Pizzas's Wilfredo Chung got control of the ball when Clark Brooks tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 37th minute of the game Porter Iverson made a throw-in which Brendon Platt played forward. Andre Pendleton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hector Lipscomb, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Brendon Platt struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Wilfredo Chung didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Haviland.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Brendon Platt made a kick off. Andre Pendleton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Woody George in the 53rd minute of play. When Thurman Alley fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pizzas's protests and gave Thurman Alley a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Pizzas's Thurman Alley got a free kick in the 59th minute. In the 63rd minute, Clark Brooks got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
