Energia Fc's Cobi Hyde proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Energia Fc from getting a goal against them. Pedro Vigil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vaughn Watkins having to interfere. When Derrick Bullard came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the New Ellenton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Derrick Bullard couldn't finish the play. When Pedro Vigil came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Energia Fc fans jumped to their feet. After a defensive mix-up in New Ellenton's zone, Pedro Vigil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vaughn Watkins came out of the goal and Pedro Vigil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of New Ellenton booed when Energia Fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cobi Stoddard didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matthew Bagley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Cobi Hyde tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. New Ellenton's Vaughn Watkins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silas Roche in the 24th minute of play. If Derrick Bullard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Matthew Bagley kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cobi Hyde. That made the score 1-0 in the 33 minute of play. 35 minutes into the game, Denis Bowser was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. New Ellenton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Energia Fc the free kick. Denis Bowser hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Vaughn Watkins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Vigil in the 36th minute of the match. In the 40th minute, Matthew Bagley reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cobi Hyde. The goal made the score 2-0. In the 46th minute, Silas Roche got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Matthew Bagley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Matthew Bagley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New Ellenton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matthew Bagley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cobi Hyde made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Derrick Bullard in the 59th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, New Ellenton's Matthew Bagley sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cobi Hyde narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Matthew Bagley managed to get in a good position for a shot. New Ellenton's supporters rose to their feet, but Matthew Bagley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cobi Hyde breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 68 minutes into the match, New Ellenton's goal looked a bit too open when Silas Roche came free, but Vaughn Watkins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Energia Fc booed when New Ellenton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ezra Anderson didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Derrick Bullard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matthew Bagley struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Cobi Hyde didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for New Ellenton. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silas Roche in the 75th minute of play forced New Ellenton's goalkeeper Vaughn Watkins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silas Roche sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 81 minutes into the match, New Ellenton's goalkeeper Vaughn Watkins had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Vigil. Energia Fc's Micah Faulkner shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 83rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Vaughn Watkins but with some difficulty. After a rather tough play, New Ellenton's Edward Baca got a free kick in the 85th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Derrick Bullard in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cobi Hyde prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cobi Hyde took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matthew Bagley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 94 played minutes, New Ellenton's Julio Ernst shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cobi Hyde came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in New Ellenton reached it. For all the effort they put into the match, the Energia Fc players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for New Ellenton.
