Gooners's supporters crossed their fingers, but Connor Byrd was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 3rd minute, Ethan Guthrie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 5th match minute, Gooners was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Heriberto Huber to maneuver through the defense. In the 6th minute of the match Anson Holloway shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Johnson Stanton showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 8 played minutes, Gooners's Reed Arredondo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Kirk Hearn came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gooners reached it. Johnson Stanton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Von Ross in the 12th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Samson AFC's goalkeeper Kirk Hearn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ethan Guthrie. Heriberto Huber charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Heriberto Huber the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Heriberto Huber hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Johnson Stanton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Von Ross, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Gooners's Dudley Ferris got a free kick in the 19th minute. When Von Ross came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Samson AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Von Ross couldn't finish the play. After 22 minutes of play Gooners's Heriberto Huber was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Gooners's Heriberto Huber got a free kick in the 23rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tad Platt in the 25th minute of play forced Gooners's goalkeeper Johnson Stanton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Gooners's zone, Von Ross stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johnson Stanton came out of the goal and Von Ross tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 31st minute Von Ross shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johnson Stanton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Von Ross in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Johnson Stanton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 37th minute, Von Ross ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Johnson Stanton was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 40th minute, Ethan Guthrie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tad Platt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Johnson Stanton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Von Ross had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Johnson Stanton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Scotty Hargrove, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ethan Guthrie to strike the kick off in the second half. Anson Holloway took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 56th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Johnson Stanton. Gooners's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 57th minute, Von Ross fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Johnson Stanton, passed just outside the right post. If Von Ross had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joesph Boyer hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. If Tad Platt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Von Ross's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Johnson Stanton was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Tad Platt took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Johnson Stanton. Johnson Stanton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Ethan Guthrie scored 1-2 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kirk Hearn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gooners's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Von Ross 75 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Von Ross in the 82nd minute of play forced Gooners's goalkeeper Johnson Stanton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Connor Byrd fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gooners's protests and gave Connor Byrd a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Samson AFC booed when Gooners was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Connor Byrd didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tad Platts short, quick shot in the 86thth minute got Johnson Stanton to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Von Ross might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Johnson Stanton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Von Ross ran back to his position shaking his head. If Tad Platt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Von Ross received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Johnson Stanton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Samson AFC's Tad Platt got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Samson AFC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
