The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Willie Carbajal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Freddy Stone went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. If Eddie Richey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Freddy Stone struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Willie Carbajal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Citizens FC. The supporters of Monte Vista AFC booed when Citizens FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilbur Miranda didn't get a good kick on the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Citizens FC's Bennett Stroud sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Willie Carbajal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Willie Carbajal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Freddy Stone in the 25th minute of play. Willie Carbajal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eddie Richey in the 26th minute of the match. The supporters of Citizens FC booed when Monte Vista AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Weldon Numbers didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Eddie Richey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Wilbur Miranda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Citizens FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilbur Miranda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Willie Carbajal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Franklin Townsend could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Lloyd Spence made a huge save. A hard shot by Wilbert Cherry from long distance, 40 minutes into the match, got Lloyd Spence's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 44th minute, Monte Vista AFC's Franklin Townsend dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Weldon Numbers stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Monte Vista AFC's zone, Freddy Stone stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Willie Carbajal came out of the goal and Freddy Stone tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Willie Carbajal came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by Citizens FC's Eddie Richey. But to his dismay, Eddie Richey quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Citizens FC's Lloyd Spence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerald Vigil in the 62nd minute of play. Eddie Richey could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Willie Carbajal made a huge save. In the 73rd minute Weldon Numbers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lloyd Spence saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lloyd Spence made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerald Vigil in the 77th minute of play. Eddie Richey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Willie Carbajal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eddie Richey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Willie Carbajal having to interfere. Citizens FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
