In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Scottsdale FC's goalkeeper Joseph Barnhart, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Emmanuel Kilgore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brent Shields's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 8thth minute, Joseph Barnhart skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Emmanuel Kilgore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Joseph Barnhart tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brent Shields sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Randy Trent showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hans Albright, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Bradly Hillman's late challenge caught a Scottsdale FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bradly Hillman helped the player get up and apologised. In the 16th match minute, South Holland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bradly Hillman to maneuver through the defense. Randy Trent showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hans Albright in the 18th minute of the match. Orlando Ziegler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Randy Trent tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 36 minutes, Brent Shields managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. South Holland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brent Shields was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Scottsdale FC's Joseph Barnhart got control of the ball when Brent Shields tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Ziegler in the 47th minute of play forced South Holland's goalkeeper Randy Trent to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hans Albright made a kick off. Hans Albright's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Randy Trent read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th match minute, South Holland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emmanuel Kilgore to maneuver through the defense. Emmanuel Kilgore kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Hans Albright received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Parker Emery took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joseph Barnhart. Joseph Barnhart dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Scottsdale FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
