After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Gabriel Boyd managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pedernales's supporters rose to their feet, but Gabriel Boyd was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eleoncio Guerra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 36 played minutes Pedernales got a freekick which was hit by Izzy Rivera. If Charlie Banister had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Charlie Banister came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Pedernales fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Charlie Banister couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Juncalito's zone, Gabriel Boyd stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eleoncio Guerra came out of the goal and Gabriel Boyd tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charlie Banister in the 46th minute of play forced Juncalito's goalkeeper Eleoncio Guerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Charlie Banister had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
