Brahim Hima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Hicham Raho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Smith's goalkeeper Hicham Raho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bendjedid Madani during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Rachid Saadane managed to get in a good position for a shot. Smith's supporters rose to their feet, but Rachid Saadane was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thelma Kader breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hachemi Meskine struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Thelma Kader didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Smith. North Atlanta's Thelma Kader played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rachid Saadane in the 32nd minute of play. In the 35th minute of the match René Khabatou sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Thelma Kader skillfully saved the ball. Abdelhamid Benyamina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hicham Raho having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lakhdar Saadane during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Smith's Lakhdar Saadane got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Abdelhamid Benyamina blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hicham Raho having to make a save.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abdelhamid Benyamina to make the kick off. If Brahim Hima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Abdel Karim Djamel came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Smith fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abdel Karim Djamel couldn't finish the play. North Atlanta's Thelma Kader played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rachid Saadane in the 75th minute of play. In the 85th match minute, North Atlanta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yazid Labi to maneuver through the defense. Rachid Saadane recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 95th minute of the match Smith got a corner. North Atlanta's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lakhdar Saadane ran over to the corner to take the kick. The Smith supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Smith would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
