In the 3rd minute, Kamel Medjani left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Montevideo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. When Rabah Zakaria fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montevideo's protests and gave Rabah Zakaria a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Alexis booed when Montevideo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rabah Zakaria didn't get a good kick on the ball. 8 minutes into the game, Hamid Doutté was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Montevideo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Alexis the free kick. When Lakhdar Bey fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alexis's protests and gave Lakhdar Bey a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th minute, Lakhdar Bey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alexis's Lakhdar Nasro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kamel Medjani in the 15th minute of play. Safy Harkouk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lakhdar Bey in the 17th minute of the match. Lakhdar Nasro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Said Saïdi-Sief in the 20th minute of the match. In the 24th minute Noureddine Madouni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Safy Harkouk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hamid Seghiri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Safy Harkouk made a huge save. When Hamid Seghiri came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Alexis fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hamid Seghiri couldn't finish the play. Mohamed Sakhri charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mohamed Sakhri the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Montevideo's Safy Harkouk proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Montevideo from getting a goal against them. In the 30th minute, Halim Bridji ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lakhdar Nasro was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. If Hamid Seghiri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Said Saïdi-Sief kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. 42 minutes had been played when some careless play by Montevideo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Noureddine Madouni was slow to take the kick. During this time Alexis's players had a chance to rest. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Noureddine Madouni was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute Said Saïdi-Sief shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lakhdar Nasro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Safy Harkouk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Noureddine Madouni in the 54th minute of play. 56 minutes into the match, Khair ad-Din Mazzid dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Lakhdar Nasro, 2-3. Lakhdar Nasro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kamel Medjani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 67th minute, Hamid Seghiri left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Alexis fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. If Hamid Seghiri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 78 minutes into the game, Montevideo's Kamel Medjani nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lakhdar Nasro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-4. Alexis's Lakhdar Nasro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Alexis from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rachid El-Hadi during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 82nd match minute, Alexis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rachid El-Hadi to maneuver through the defense. 87 minutes into the match, Alexis's goal looked a bit too open when Kamel Medjani came free, but Lakhdar Nasro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 91 minutes into the match, Noureddine Madouni had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Safy Harkouk. Montevideo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Noureddine Madouni was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-4. Lakhdar Nasro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Said Saïdi-Sief, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Alexis fans cheered their team off the field, for while Montevideo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
