Abdel Ighil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 20 minutes into the game, Thelma Bouteflika was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Oakland AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Columbia City FC the free kick. Hocine Lelouch was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 21st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The supporters of Columbia City FC booed when Oakland AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fodil Boniche didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abdel Ighil made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mimoun Mekhloufi in the 27th minute. Yazid Lelouch kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Samir Benzine showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abdelnacer Harkat in the 35th minute of the match. In the 38th minute, Abderraouf Soltani ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Abdel Ighil was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 42nd minute, Ismaël Boumedienne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abdel Ighil didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 44th minute, which inside left pole to 2-1. 49 minutes into the match, Oakland AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Abdelnacer Harkat came free, but Samir Benzine reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fodil Benbitour stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Columbia City FC's zone, Mimoun Mekhloufi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abdel Ighil came out of the goal and Mimoun Mekhloufi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Samir Benzine stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fodil Benbitour's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. With his leg Samir Benzine managed to avoid a goal in the 64thth minute, when Columbia City FC's Abdelnacer Harkat fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Oakland AFC's Samir Benzine played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fodil Benbitour in the 67th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Columbia City FC's zone, Abderraouf Soltani stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abdel Ighil came out of the goal and Abderraouf Soltani tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fodil Benbitour sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 85 minutes into the game, Abdelnacer Harkat was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
