After 3 played minutes, Chesterton's Ahmed Mansouri shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lazhar Zerguelaine came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chesterton reached it. Nasser Dziri was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 9th minute. Gastonia's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 11th minute Abdelkader Benbitour shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lazhar Zerguelaine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th minute, Abdelkader Benbitour left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Chesterton fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The Chesterton fans' excitement grew in the 17th match minute when Chesterton's Rafik Khaled looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 21 played minutes Chesterton got a freekick which was hit by Hamid Souakri. The supporters of Chesterton booed when Gastonia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hocine Gallaire didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rafik Khaled fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lazhar Zerguelaine having to interfere. In the 37th minute Abdelkader Benbitour shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lazhar Zerguelaine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 38 minutes into the game, Chesterton's Abdelkader Benbitour nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lazhar Zerguelaine made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Rabah Boulahfane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nasser Dziri in the 42nd minute of play. Rafik Khaled struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Lazhar Zerguelaine didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chesterton. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Rabah Boulahfane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nasser Dziri in the 53rd minute of play. Mohammed Ahmed Nabil might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rabah Boulahfane. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mohammed Ahmed Nabil ran back to his position shaking his head. When Gastonia's Mohammed Ahmed Nabil in the 66th minute got a chance for a shot 66th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chesterton's goalie prevented a goal. 71 minutes into the match, Chesterton's goal looked a bit too open when Nasser Dziri came free, but Rabah Boulahfane reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 80 minutes Chesterton's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Bouzid Rahouli who took care of the corner kick. If Abdelkader Benbitour had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 93 played minutes Gastonia got a freekick which was hit by Hocine Gallaire. When Rafik Khaled came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Chesterton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafik Khaled couldn't finish the play. The Gastonia supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Chesterton's performance. The match ended with a win for Chesterton.
