Kasdi Belloumi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rabah Khendu having to interfere. 8 minutes into the match, Blue Hills FC's Mimoun Khaled sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Karim Nasro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 10 minutes into the match, Vandergrift FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mimoun Khaled came free, but Karim Nasro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mimoun Khaled received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Karim Nasro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15th minute Sofiane Aboulker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rabah Khendu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rabah Khendu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sofiane Aboulker, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 26 minutes into the match, Vandergrift FC's goal looked a bit too open when Farès Temmam came free, but Karim Nasro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sofiane Aboulker to make the kick off. Sofiane Aboulker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rabah Khendu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play.
