An unexpectedly hard shot by Khalida Bensaoula in the 25th minute of play forced Carterville's goalkeeper Cherif el Ibrahimi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Walid Ali had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 36 minutes, Khalida Bensaoula managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. San Marino's supporters crossed their fingers, but Khalida Bensaoula was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 43 minutes into the match, Walid Ali notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Carterville's Cherif el Ibrahimi. Cherif el Ibrahimi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ahmed Ibrir's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Madhi Abdi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Madhi Abdi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ahmed Ibrir in the 52nd minute of play. Medjadi Sadi took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Madhi Abdi. Madhi Abdi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. In the 60th play minute Khalida Bensaoula came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Cherif el Ibrahimi. 1-3. Chaba Belkacem hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. In the 65th minute, Boubekeur Makkeb sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and San Marino's Madhi Abdi didn't even have to move.
