In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gloucester Point FC's goalkeeper Halim Bencherif, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Halim Bencherif took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mamaar Ziani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 12th minute, Rabah Abrika got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Clermont's Abdelaziz Sad got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Abdelaziz Sad fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Halim Bencherif having to interfere. Clermont's Mamaar Ziani got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mohammad Ouadah showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmond Halimi in the 34th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abdelaziz Sad in the 38th minute of play forced Gloucester Point FC's goalkeeper Halim Bencherif to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Mamaar Ziani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 43 minutes into the match, Gloucester Point FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mamaar Ziani came free, but Halim Bencherif reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Clermont's Mamaar Ziani got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

If Edmond Halimi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. When the match was over Clermont could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Gloucester Point FC throughout the match.
