The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 8 minutes, Loic Barker managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bennett AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Loic Barker was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Homer Tardif showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eldon McCracken, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Justin Lavoie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 24 minutes into the game, Alton Huerta recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gino Poirier. Alton Huerta showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Loic Barker got free with Gino Poirier in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Erwood AFC's Gino Poirier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Erwood AFC from getting a goal against them. Alton Huerta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Gino Burroughs fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bennett AFC's protests and gave Gino Burroughs a yellow card for diving instead. Gino Burroughs kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Eldon McCracken sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Justin Lavoie struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Homer Tardif didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Erwood AFC. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alton Huerta to make the kick off. Loic Barker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gino Poirier read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Bennett AFC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Justin Lavoie 54 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Jarod Stephenson struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Homer Tardif didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Erwood AFC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Justin Lavoie in the 59th minute of play forced Bennett AFC's goalkeeper Homer Tardif to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Broderick Napier took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 61st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Homer Tardif. Bennett AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Erwood AFC's Gino Poirier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Loic Barker in the 67th minute of play. In the 74th minute Justin Lavoie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Homer Tardif saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Loic Barker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Gino Poirier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gino Poirier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alton Huerta in the 86th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alton Huerta in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gino Poirier saved Erwood AFC from getting behind. Olivier Rasmussen hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Erwood AFC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Bennett AFC.
