In the 5th match minute, Clova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeremiah Villeneuve to maneuver through the defense. Jody Faulkner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maximilien Henry having to interfere. Clova's Maximilien Henry played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orval Montoya in the 10th minute of play. In the 11th minute, Jeremiah Villeneuve made a precise shot to the right of Gerard Thomas. Whelan's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Whelan's goalkeeper Gerard Thomas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gerard Thomas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremiah Villeneuve, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 19 minutes, Gerard Thomas successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Charley Tyler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 26 minutes into the game, Norris Walters was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Clova's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Whelan the free kick. In the 26th minute, Norris Walters hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 27 minutes into the match, Whelan's Léonce Sawyer broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. With a little luck, Whelan's Gerard Thomas got control of the ball when Charley Tyler tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Jeremiah Villeneuve had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 44th minute Jody Faulkner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maximilien Henry saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Orval Montoya fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maximilien Henry having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Jody Faulkner made the kick off in the second half. Jeremiah Villeneuve fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerard Thomas having to interfere. Jeremiah Villeneuve's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gerard Thomas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jody Faulkner in the 57th minute of play forced Clova's goalkeeper Maximilien Henry to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 57 minutes, Rogelio Lajoie mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Clova and the Whelan players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Clova's Rogelio Lajoie got a free kick in the 57th minute. Geraldo Christian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute of the game, Charley Tyler landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Baudouin Gifford's late challenge caught a Clova's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Baudouin Gifford helped the player get up and apologised. After 70 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Whelan! During the 75th minute of the match Norris Walters completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Norris Walters a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 76th match minute, Clova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norris Walters to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Clova's zone, Orval Montoya stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maximilien Henry came out of the goal and Orval Montoya tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Jody Faulkner came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Whelan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jody Faulkner couldn't finish the play. After 83 played minutes Clova got a freekick which was hit by Ike Rosas. In the 84th minute, Léonce Sawyer sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Clova's Maximilien Henry didn't even have to move. Jody Faulkner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Christian Jewell hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Maximilien Henry showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jody Faulkner, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Orval Montoya got free with Maximilien Henry in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Clova's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
