A collision led to Sonora getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Cody Cochran hit a great ball. 7 minutes into the match, Sonora's goalkeeper Sheldon Boucher had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Darwin McRae. Jacinto Malone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Malone in the 18th minute of play forced Sonora's goalkeeper Sheldon Boucher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sheldon Boucher made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Giovanni Gilbert sent off a good shot on target. In the 25th minute, Darwin McRae left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Dortmund FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If Daron Steiner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brant McFarland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malik Reese having to interfere. The supporters of Dortmund FC booed when Sonora was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daron Steiner didn't get a good kick on the ball. Horace Pitts hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Luke Stout kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Darwin McRae struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Sheldon Boucher didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dortmund FC. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jacinto Malone in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sheldon Boucher saved Sonora from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Sonora's zone, Hiram Lockwood stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sheldon Boucher came out of the goal and Hiram Lockwood tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After 55 minutes, Brant McFarland mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sonora and the Dortmund FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Brant McFarland hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Sheldon Boucher showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darwin McRae in the 60th minute of the match. Sheldon Boucher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacinto Malone in the 67th minute of play. In the 70th minute Darwin McRae shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sheldon Boucher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sonora's Daron Steiner got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sheldon Boucher showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giovanni Gilbert, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. 86 minutes into the match, Dortmund FC's Darwin McRae sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sheldon Boucher narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sonora's Sheldon Boucher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacinto Malone in the 88th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darwin McRae in the 90th minute of play forced Sonora's goalkeeper Sheldon Boucher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jacinto Malone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Sheldon Boucher tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dortmund FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
