The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Albany AFC's Humberto Herman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mel Sims narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 11 minutes, Joël John managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Albany AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joël John was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Humberto Herman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A wasted opportunity for Albany AFC. After some careless play in the Gang FC defense, Joël John kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mel Sims. The Gang FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mel Sims should have stopped the shot. When Valentin Neely fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gang FC's protests and gave Valentin Neely a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Gang FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Valentin Neely hit a great ball. In the 39th minute, Joël John made a precise shot to the right of Mel Sims. Gang FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Humberto Herman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mel Sims having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, Joël John had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mel Sims. Gang FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joël John was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. The Gang FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Albany AFC were winning 0-3.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joël John made a kick off. Valentin Neely fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederic Jimenez having to interfere. 61 minutes into the match, Gang FC's goalkeeper Mel Sims had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Humberto Herman. Barry Godwin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Bernard Poirier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joël John received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Mel Sims tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Gang FC's goalkeeper Mel Sims had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Humberto Herman. Humberto Herman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Mel Sims made a huge save. In the 82nd minute, Bernard Poirier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Barry Godwin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Frederic Jimenez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valentin Neely sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Albany AFC's Humberto Herman got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Albany AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
