Ramiro Messias ran back to his position shaking his head. 12 minutes into the match, Daniel Onega dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Nando Toscano, 1-0. After 19 minutes Escuadrón Mercenario's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Kamil Glik who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Kamil Glik got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Nando Toscano quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When Enrique Abeijon came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Escuadrón Mercenario fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Enrique Abeijon couldn't finish the play. Escuadrón Mercenario's Nando Toscano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Svetoslav Genkov in the 24th minute of play. Enrique Abeijon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nicanor Ascencio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Nicanor Ascencio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Pedro Medeiros in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th minute Escuadrón Mercenario were awarded a corner. Gartxot Abeita went to the cornerflag to take it. Nicanor Ascencio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Estevon Abancens in the 31st minute of play. After some careless play in the El Pulpo Paceño defense, Estevon Abancens kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicanor Ascencio. The El Pulpo Paceño fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicanor Ascencio should have stopped the shot. Daniel Onega's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 35thth minute, Nando Toscano skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 41 minutes into the match, Aristides Lluc had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nando Toscano. Escuadrón Mercenario's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aristides Lluc was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Nando Toscano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Svetoslav Genkov in the 45th minute of play. El Pulpo Paceño's Nicanor Ascencio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ramiro Messias in the 46th minute of play. After some careless play in the El Pulpo Paceño defense, Ramiro Messias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicanor Ascencio. The El Pulpo Paceño fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicanor Ascencio should have stopped the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Onega to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, El Pulpo Paceño's Aristides Lluc sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nando Toscano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nicanor Ascencio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enrique Abeijon in the 53rd minute of the match. Nando Toscano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Svetoslav Genkov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. El Pulpo Paceño's Nicanor Ascencio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save El Pulpo Paceño from getting a goal against them. Nicanor Ascencio didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 57th minute, which inside left pole to 2-3. In the 61stth minute of the game Daniel Onega who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Escuadrón Mercenario's Nando Toscano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 76th minute Daniel Onega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nando Toscano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The El Pulpo Paceño fans cheered their team off the field, for while Escuadrón Mercenario had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
