The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Denis Cebadilla got free with Dorio Ilarraza in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 7 minutes, Kepa Noriega managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Martinote's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kepa Noriega was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 10th minute Feliberto Junguito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Severino Hontoria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kepa Noriega might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Severino Hontoria. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kepa Noriega ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Martinote's goalkeeper Dorio Ilarraza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 19 minutes into the match, Martinote's goalkeeper Dorio Ilarraza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Denis Cebadilla. In the 24th minute, Denis Cebadilla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Isauro Melendes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Feliberto Junguito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Hontoria having to interfere. Dorio Ilarraza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Delmiro Omaña, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Severino Hontoria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Feliberto Junguito, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Martinote's zone, Delmiro Omaña stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dorio Ilarraza came out of the goal and Delmiro Omaña tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Martinote getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Gervasio Inda hit a great ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Delmiro Omaña was the one to do the kick off. Kepa Noriega fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Hontoria having to interfere. After 63 played minutes Garibaldi FC got a freekick which was hit by Fernendo Estopinal. Bonifacio Mediano was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 64th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. If Denis Cebadilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kepa Noriega fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Hontoria having to interfere. 75 minutes into the game, Isauro Melendes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Martinote's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Garibaldi FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Martinote's Isauro Melendes got a free kick in the 76th minute. 77 minutes into the match, Denis Cebadilla had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dorio Ilarraza. Martinote's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Denis Cebadilla was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Severino Hontoria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Feliberto Junguito in the 81st minute of play. If Denis Cebadilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Delmiro Omaña had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
