Arixo Robires made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. William Santome's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sanson Trevijano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. Sanson Trevijano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sanson Trevijano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from William Santome, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eugenio Villarruel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arixo Robires having to interfere. The supporters of Merinos booed when Palma was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oliverios Arzola didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 34 minutes, Firman Unanue managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Merinos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Firman Unanue was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Roberto Cue had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as William Santome kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sanson Trevijano. That made the score 2-1 in the 44 minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eugenio Villarruel was the one to do the kick off. Firman Unanue fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arixo Robires having to interfere. Firman Unanue sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Diego Palmades kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. In the 63rd minute, Firman Unanue made a precise shot to the right of Arixo Robires. Palma's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. After some careless play in the Merinos defense, Roberto Cue kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sanson Trevijano. The Merinos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sanson Trevijano should have stopped the shot. Eugenio Villarruel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arixo Robires having to interfere. Roberto Cue recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Firman Unanue managed to get in a good position for a shot. Merinos's supporters rose to their feet, but Firman Unanue was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arixo Robires breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Eugenio Villarruel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Merinos defense, William Santome kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sanson Trevijano. The Merinos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sanson Trevijano should have stopped the shot. Arixo Robires made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugenio Villarruel in the 90th minute of play. Sanson Trevijano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from William Santome, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Eugenio Villarruel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arixo Robires having to interfere. Merinos's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
