Baldomero Hervas made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Cilio Espriu sent off a good shot on target. When Rogelio Domaquia fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Young's protests and gave Rogelio Domaquia a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Young getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Rogelio Domaquia hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geofredo Barga in the 15th minute of play forced Young's goalkeeper Onofre Maruca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the game, Plaza Congreso's Geofredo Barga nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
