In the 8th minute, Santiago Fontecha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Goni FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Pascoal Herquinigo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Algorta AFC defense, Santiago Fontecha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Xiao Correa. The Algorta AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Xiao Correa should have stopped the shot. In the 23rd minute, Ponciano Cendan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Goni FC's Cesareo Uruñuela proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Goni FC from getting a goal against them. If Dalmau Arnedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Santiago Fontecha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Xiao Correa. Algorta AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Santiago Fontecha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 40th minute, Ponciano Cendan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Goni FC's Wilfredo Iturrate managed to work through Algorta AFC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Wilfredo Iturrate dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Xiao Correa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilfredo Iturrate in the 44th minute of play. If Santiago Fontecha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dalmau Arnedo was the one to do the kick off. In the 57th minute of the match Santxo Masana shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Xiao Correa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 65th minute of the game. One of Algorta AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Goni FC:s goal. Santiago Fontecha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xiao Correa having to interfere. Cesareo Uruñuela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pascoal Herquinigo in the 78th minute of play. The long shot by Estefan Polla in the 80th minute really tested Xiao Correa's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a rather tough play, Algorta AFC's Eder Percaz got a free kick in the 85th minute. Wilfredo Iturrate received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Xiao Correa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Pascoal Herquinigo came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Algorta AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pascoal Herquinigo couldn't finish the play. Wilfredo Iturrate received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Xiao Correa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
