Norino Albarez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Omero Lanzon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 5 minutes of play, Riachuelo's Jerardo Gegunde made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Norino Albarez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narciso Zaloña, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Andoni Cerrabe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Andoni Cerrabe came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Riachuelo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andoni Cerrabe couldn't finish the play.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jerardo Gegunde made a kick off. If Alvaro Mugica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerardo Gegunde in the 54th minute of play forced Maturrango FC's goalkeeper Palos Tecla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maturrango FC's Palos Tecla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerardo Gegunde in the 55th minute of play. Omero Lanzon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Norino Albarez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andoni Cerrabe in the 81st minute of play forced Maturrango FC's goalkeeper Palos Tecla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
