Fabian Brion started the match with the kick off. Tacuarembo's Andrew Peart played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabian Brion in the 31st minute of play. Miguez's Fabian Brion got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Albino Ronquillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrew Peart having to interfere. Lizar Diego struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Modestio Fermoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tacuarembo. When Rodriguez Valdes fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Miguez's protests and gave Rodriguez Valdes a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Tacuarembo booed when Miguez was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodriguez Valdes didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Salomone Rado to strike the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Salomone Rado in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Modestio Fermoso saved Miguez from getting behind. Modestio Fermoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Salomone Rado, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Fabian Brion sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Albino Ronquillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fabian Brion's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andrew Peart read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Miguez's Albino Ronquillo got a free kick in the 69th minute. Tacuarembo's Andrew Peart played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabian Brion in the 72nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabian Brion in the 77th minute of play forced Tacuarembo's goalkeeper Andrew Peart to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 79th minute, Zosimo Hernaez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Miguez's Modestio Fermoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lizar Diego in the 84th minute of play. If Fabian Brion had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Miguez booed when Tacuarembo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Urtsua Raon didn't get a good kick on the ball. 88 minutes into the game, one of Tacuarembo:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 90 minutes, Miguez's Cordaro Rengifo got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Andrew Peart. In the 93rd minute, Salomone Rado left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tacuarembo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. Miguez's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
