Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Joanes Sobrefuentes made the kick off and thus started the match. A collision led to Penarol getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Urdaspal Arriola hit a great ball. Sayago's Joseba Hontoria was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Stephen Maeijnarts in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 6 minutes into the game, Egoi Vitoria was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Penarol's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sayago the free kick. The supporters of Sayago booed when Penarol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egoi Vitoria didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 7 minutes, Malvin Oña made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Penarol's Stephen Maeijnarts tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Penarol's Stephen Maeijnarts proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Penarol from getting a goal against them. Stephen Maeijnarts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvarez Arismendi, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Egoi Vitoria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tonete Sobrevilla having to interfere. After 22 played minutes Sayago got a freekick which was hit by Sindo Magdalena. Tonete Sobrevilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joanes Sobrefuentes in the 25th minute of play. If Joanes Sobrefuentes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Penarol's Barto Santoyo suffered a concussion in the 31st minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Cerilo Galaviz's late challenge caught a Penarol's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cerilo Galaviz helped the player get up and apologised. After 32 played minutes Sayago got a freekick which was hit by Cerilo Galaviz. Sayago's Jerardo Sauto shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 34th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Stephen Maeijnarts but with some difficulty. 37 minutes into the match, Sayago's goal looked a bit too open when Joanes Sobrefuentes came free, but Tonete Sobrevilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sayago's Tonete Sobrevilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joanes Sobrefuentes in the 42nd minute of play. After some careless play in the Sayago defense, Joanes Sobrefuentes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tonete Sobrevilla. The Sayago fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tonete Sobrevilla should have stopped the shot. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The attack was good, but when Alvarez Arismendi in the 54th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. 60 minutes into the match, Joanes Sobrefuentes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tonete Sobrevilla. Sayago's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joanes Sobrefuentes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Stephen Maeijnarts stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Malvin Oña's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. After having played for 66 minutes, Joanes Sobrefuentes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Penarol's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joanes Sobrefuentes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stephen Maeijnarts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alvarez Arismendi in the 70th minute of the match. Tonete Sobrevilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joanes Sobrefuentes in the 73rd minute of play. Jerardo Sauto hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. After 87 minutes, Sindo Magdalena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sayago and the Penarol players grew even worse after the yellow card. 88 minutes into the match, Penarol's Urdaspal Arriola broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 91st minute, Joanes Sobrefuentes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joanes Sobrefuentes in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tonete Sobrevilla saved Sayago from getting behind. When the match was over Penarol could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sayago throughout the match.
