Papo Zamanillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of progreso f.c booed when Illescas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulino Cortaza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lon Usabiaga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Froilan Rubin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Vitin Cardoza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 18th minute, one of Illescas:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Illescas. If Txema Quijano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute, Vitin Cardoza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The progreso f.c fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 29 minutes into the match, Illescas's goal looked a bit too open when Papo Zamanillo came free, but Quinito Bizoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Quinito Bizoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Papo Zamanillo in the 31st minute of the match. After some careless play in the Illescas defense, Vitin Cardoza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Quinito Bizoso. The Illescas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Quinito Bizoso should have stopped the shot. In the 41st minute, one of progreso f.c:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for progreso f.c. When the match had been going on for 43 minutes, Illescas's Mateo Buenaga got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Lon Usabiaga. After the first half progreso f.c were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Froilan Rubin was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Papo Zamanillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Dario Barbajero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Quinito Bizoso came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by progreso f.c's Jacek Lewkowicz. But to his dismay, Jacek Lewkowicz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. In the 60th minute, one of Illescas:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Illescas. When the match had been going on for 62 minutes, progreso f.c's Alvaro Alvarez got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Quinito Bizoso. Lon Usabiaga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Txema Quijano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 76 minutes into the match, progreso f.c's Jacek Lewkowicz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Quinito Bizoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With 80 minutes on the clock, Jabier Polo commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 80 minutes into the game, one of progreso f.c:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Mateo Buenaga placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! progreso f.c's Lon Usabiaga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dominic Ruidiez in the 88th minute of play. If Dario Barbajero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Papo Zamanillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Quinito Bizoso made a huge save. Lon Usabiaga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Froilan Rubin, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. After 95 minutes of play, Illescas's Dominic Ruidiez made it 2-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lon Usabiaga was left in no man's land by his defense there! progreso f.c's Lon Usabiaga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Txema Quijano in the 100th minute of play. When the match was over progreso f.c could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Illescas throughout the match.
