The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Melo's Cresenciano Ucieda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Loiola Macia in the 3rd minute of play. After having played for 5 minutes, Gonsalvo Isasi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nando's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gonsalvo Isasi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 9 minutes into the match, Melo's goal looked a bit too open when Silvestre Gilavert came free, but Cresenciano Ucieda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Loiola Macia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nando's supporters rose to their feet, but Loiola Macia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cresenciano Ucieda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ezkerra Pedrueca's late challenge caught a Nando's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ezkerra Pedrueca helped the player get up and apologised. Ezkerra Pedrueca kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. The audience cheered when Adrio Boo's long shot passed Cresenciano Ucieda's right side. It was 0-1, 13 minutes into the match. 17 minutes into the match, Nando's goal looked a bit too open when Braulio Vina came free, but Paulino Guanes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Loiola Macia in the 24th minute of play forced Melo's goalkeeper Cresenciano Ucieda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silvestre Gilavert kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Loiola Macia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Cresenciano Ucieda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 29 played minutes Melo got a freekick which was hit by Gonzalo Camats. Adrio Boo was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 30th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 32nd minute Braulio Vina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulino Guanes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cresenciano Ucieda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Loiola Macia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpected shot in the 38th minute by Lon Torrens got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in Nando's zone, Braulio Vina stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulino Guanes came out of the goal and Braulio Vina tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Loiola Macia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Cresenciano Ucieda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Loiola Macia in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cresenciano Ucieda prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Melo's zone, Silvestre Gilavert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cresenciano Ucieda came out of the goal and Silvestre Gilavert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 53 minutes into the game, Silvestre Gilavert cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Cresenciano Ucieda was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 58 minutes into the match, Nando's goal looked a bit too open when Lon Torrens came free, but Paulino Guanes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Lon Torrens came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Melo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lon Torrens couldn't finish the play. Colon Sustaeta's late challenge caught a Melo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The supporters of Nando booed when Melo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Braulio Vina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lon Torrens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Paulino Guanes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nando's goalkeeper Paulino Guanes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lon Torrens's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulino Guanes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. If Loiola Macia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute, Loiola Macia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Loiola Macia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
