In the 7th minute, Argider Eraña got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 9 minutes, Cheche Ronda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montevideo City and the Constitucion players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 9th match minute, Montevideo City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cheche Ronda to maneuver through the defense. Montevideo City's Domenec Gredilla got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 20th match minute, Constitucion was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dimo Arena to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Constitucion's zone, Domenec Gredilla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Quintun Bidaurre came out of the goal and Domenec Gredilla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 28 minutes, Ofelio Asturi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Constitucion's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ofelio Asturi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ubaldo Asturias in the 34th minute of play forced Constitucion's goalkeeper Quintun Bidaurre to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 35th minute by Domenec Gredilla got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Hernan Carballal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Constitucion's supporters rose to their feet, but Hernan Carballal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roger Callergos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Domenec Gredilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46thth minute of the game Ubaldo Asturias who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Constitucion's Quintun Bidaurre was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hernan Carballal made a kick off. Hernan Carballal struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Roger Callergos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Constitucion. After 66 played minutes Constitucion got a freekick which was hit by Orlondo Ubilla. In the 69th minute of the match Montevideo City got a corner. Constitucion's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Damian Caroso ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domenec Gredilla in the 71st minute of play forced Constitucion's goalkeeper Quintun Bidaurre to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute, Ubaldo Asturias left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Montevideo City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Francho Alberete charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Francho Alberete the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Constitucion's Francho Alberete got a free kick in the 78th minute. In the 82nd minute Hernan Carballal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Callergos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 83 minutes into the game, Domenec Gredilla cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Montevideo City fans cheered their team off the field, for while Constitucion had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
